Not all construction projects require the assessment of the serviceability under dynamic loads. The decision, in how far such an assessment becomes necessary, requires criteria, which can be investigated by non-experts in dynamics. Different from aspects concerning the structural safety, serviceability criteria might be exceeded sporadically. Measurements make the probability of exceedance visible. The increasing possibilities for a prediction related with the progress in the planning and construction phase can be of use in the design-process for measures designed for guaranteeing serviceablity.
