Abstract

The safety and security requirements for electrical connection systems continue to rise in the context of semi-and highly-Automated driving. In order to counteract occurring faults and to guarantee a reliable power supply, currently, two different approaches are distinguished: The implementation of redundancies and the selection of robust components. This paper presents an alternative approach to evaluate a vehicle energy path's "state of health"and to predict the remaining useful life. With the presented procedure, the entire system's availability can be increased by health monitoring of unmonitored supply paths and thus provides an alternative to the currently discussed cost-intensive security concepts.
