Abstract

In the field of power electronics and electrical drive, Finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) has been widely utilized because of low cost and intuitive concept. Predictive torque control (PTC) can be a good representative for the application of MPC. Unfortunately, due to increasing exponentially calculation and limitation of processor running time this still fails to extend the long horizon scope applied on electrical drives. However, generalized predictive control (GPC) is a promising method and has attracted long-Term attention for induction machines (IMs) owing to its rapid response and disturbance rejection. In this paper, it presents that a hybrid MPC strategy applied on IM to implement the mechanical position control of servo press. The GPC method based on PTC is designed to predict the speed. With conventional proportional control (P), the control scheme is described in the cascaded structure of proposed algorithm. Simulation results are evaluated and discussed to demonstrate the performance of the proposed approach and validation of the algorithm on servo press has been done.
