Abstract

As the importance of public charging for electric vehicles in urban areas increases, detailed estimations of the impact of public charging infrastructure on power consumption in urban distribution grids is becoming increasingly relevant. To provide such estimations, influences of different factors on user behaviour at charging stations must be identified. This paper proposes a systematic procedure for analysing location-based influences for charging stations using the surrounding road and walkway network as well as georeferenced datasets. The procedure is applied using the zoning plan of a German city to generate location-dependent features for a number of charging stations that allow a categorisation by the most dominant land use designation types in the neighbourhood. This categorisation is in most cases sufficient for analysing location-based influences as distinct user behaviour and power consumption patterns can be found for different categories.
