N2 - This paper offers a systematic approach to the analysis of the stator resistance's influence on the operational forecast or efficiency calculation of permanent synchronous machines. For this purpose, the voltage equation in the (d, q)-reference frame is decomposed in components that can be represented as phasors. Relations for minimum and maximum influence of the stator resistance can be derived in this perspective using basic vector analysis. Effects of a neglected stator resistance versus a considered stator resistance are detailed in terms of overvoltage, efficiency and achievable engine speed.
