Abstract

Predictive Maintenance (PdM) has become a focal point for both industry and research in recent years. While researchers develop increasingly complex mathematical models, the question remains how much can actually be put into practical use and add value to the industry. By conducting an empirical expert study, this publication answers how the industry perceives PdM's current status and potential. 62 responses of employees of European companies were analyzed. Five key findings are presented and backed by empirical data. The publication concludes by deriving actions for successful industrial development and implementation of PdM systems.
