Abstract

Experimental and numerical findings for the supersonic flow field of the twostage vehicle ELAC/EOS are presented. The experiments have been performed in the T-313 wind tunnel of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, SB, Russian Academy of Sciences, in Novosibirsk. They include pressure, force, and moment measurements, and schlieren flow visualization. The numerical simulations provide the fully three dimensional data and are used to analyze the flow field by visualizing wall streamlines and the inner structure of the flow field. The first configuration of the investigation is the orbital stage EOS in close vicinity to a flat plate, while in the second part the separation of ELAC and EOS is modelled. The flow fields of these bodies strongly interfere and the influence of the interaction will be discussed in detail.
