Abstract
Four examples from practice show that by determination of oxygen stable isotopes (18O, 16O, of Ph, O2, electrical conductivity and temperature in the water of wells tapping river filtrate the ratio of river filtrate to water originating from the regional aquifer can be estimated. An additional determination of the caffeine content in the river and the well water allows an estimation of the amount of anthropogenic contamination in the well water and of the decontamination capacity of the river bank sediments.
