Abstract

Next to the scientific discourse, both concepts also gained attention in policy in recent years. Within Europe, the European Commission has recently advocated green infrastructure as an approach to promote ecosystem services and transform the often-defensive position of nature conservation to a more active and constructive element of spatial planning in Europe (European Commission 2013).
