Abstract

It is discussed how self-consistent descriptions of undamped nuclear collective motion can be extended to transport theory. A previous formulation with linear response theory is modified to describe fluctuations consistently with average motion. A Hamiltonian for an extended space of collective plus intrinsic degrees of freedom is used and finally applied to a non-perturbative Nakajama-Zwanzig approach. The equations of motion contain non-Markovian features. Microscopically computed transport coefficients will be discussed from which inferences on applications to fission and heavy ion collisions can be drawn.
